BREAKING NEWS: Toyota Supra Manual Confirmed!
Toyota Supra Manual Transmission – Overview
Toyota has improved the Supra every year since its reintroduction, including powertrain enhancements, special editions, and other adjustments.
But the major news is still to come, as Toyota has now announced that the Supra will be equipped with a manual transmission.
Here are the major highlights:
- A manual transmission will be offered for the Toyota Supra shortly.
- However, it’s unclear whether the stick-shift will be available for the base four-cylinder, the inline-six, or both.
- More information should be available in the coming weeks.
The Toyota USA Twitter account shared a photo of a three-pedal arrangement in the Supra’s driver footwell, along with the phrase #Manual, which doesn’t leave much to the imagination. However, we think it should’ve been #SavetheManuals.
A press announcement on Toyota’s UK website also confirms that a stick-shift GR Supra is on its way to becoming a reality.
We don’t know which powertrain combinations with three pedals will be available.
The turbo 2.0-liter inline-four with 255 horsepower or the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 horsepower are available in the 2022 Supra; to be honest, we’d be a little unhappy if the manual was only available with the four-cylinder.
Unfortunately, both powertrains come from BMW, which doesn’t sell either of these engines with a manual transmission in the United States.
The M3 and M4, which come standard with a 473-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six and a six-speed manual transmission, are BMW’s only manual-transmission vehicles now marketed in the United States.
More details about the Supra’s manual transmission will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
