Toyota showcases their new Compact Cruiser EV!

The Compact Cruiser is a charming electric concept automobile that appears like a contender to the Ford Bronco Sport.

The electric SUV design is based on Land Cruiser vehicles and is likely to hit the market in the next several years.

The Toyota Compact Cruiser EV is a compact, off-road-focused SUV that draws inspiration from the model’s renowned Land Cruiser models, as the name suggests.

Here are the three major highlights of the New Toyota Compact Cruiser:

  • Toyota unveiled the Compact Cruiser EV concept, which condenses the Land Cruiser’s core into a smaller package. The front end of the vehicle resembles that of the J80 Land Cruiser.
  • Although Toyota hasn’t revealed any details regarding the electric motor, the Compact Cruiser appears to be well-equipped for the outdoors. It may have a dual-motor setup with AWD.
  • Even though the lunch date of the Compact Cruiser EV will go into production, Toyota has already teased a compact off-roader with the FT-4X concept.

At first glance, the Compact Cruiser EV looks like a 2006 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

The Compact Cruiser EV’s front end features a classic grille with Toyota insignia flanked by horizontally ordered LED headlights, giving it a J80 Land Cruiser-like appearance.

Then there’s the front bumper, unpainted and has a large, silver skid plate that declares the vehicle’s off-road intent. Toyota has utilized concrete cladding across the wheel arches on the sides, and the window line has a unique curve.

A blacked-out A-pillar and retro-styled wheels with all-terrain rubber will be added to the Compact Cruiser EV. Surprisingly, there’s also a special coloured body section behind the rear doors.

Meanwhile, it will have squarish LED taillights, a Toyota logo on the tailgate, and, unusually, a roof rack that extends into the tailgate itself.

Interiors

While Toyota didn’t provide any interior photos, the video presentation did look like the Compact Cruiser EV’s cabin.

The SUV’s dashboard will be high-set, with a free-standing touchscreen taking centre stage. There’s also a digital instrument cluster and a squared-off steering wheel with the Toyota logo in the middle.

Powertrain

It’ll be a battery-electric vehicle based on Toyota’s new electric vehicle architecture. The Compact Cruiser EV could be built on an electric version of the TNGA chassis, featuring a dual-motor setup and standard all-wheel drive.

Although it is still a concept, the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV will probably certainly go into production in the following years.

When it goes on sale, the Compact Cruiser EV might be an electric competitor to the Ford Bronco Sport and the next-generation Jeep Renegade in global markets.

Launch Date

It’s reasonable to expect the electric pickup truck to arrive before the Compact Cruiser.

In either scenario, we’d anticipate more evocative titles than the bland names Toyota chose to reveal on Tuesday.
