Now only 40 percent of customs duty on electric vehicles

The government has reduced the customs duty on electric vehicles to 40 percent. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has fixed the customs rate from 10 percent to 40 percent through the budget of the Fiscal Year 2078/07.

Earlier, excise duty was also levied. However, now that the excise duty has been completely abolished, the customs duty has also been drastically reduced.

The financial ordinance has provided 10 percent customs duty on electric cars, jeeps, and vans up to 100 kW capacity, 15 percent on vehicles up to 200 kW capacity above 100 kW, 40 percent on vehicles with 200 to 300 kW capacity, and 40 percent on cars above 300 kW capacity.

Earlier, 30 percent excise duty was levied on electric vehicles with a capacity of 50 kW. It was decided to reduce it to 80 percent discount. It was decided to give a 75 percent discount on 40 percent excise duty on vehicles with a capacity of 51 to 100 kilowatts.

Similarly, it was decided to give a 70 percent discount on 50 percent excise duty on electric vehicles with a capacity of 101 to 150 kilowatts. It was agreed to provide a 25 percent discount on excise duty of 60 to 80 percent on vehicles with a power of more than 151 kW.
