Malaysian brand Proton’s SUV X-50 has arrived in Nepal.
Jagdamba Motors, the official distributor of Proton for Nepal, unveiled the X50 in three variants.
The company has introduced standard, premium, and flagship variants of X50 in Nepal.
The official sale of all three variants will take place from March 23, according to Jagdamba Motors.

The Proton X50’s design is appealing since it has a lot of edges on the outside but still manages to seem sleek and cohesive no matter which angle you look at it from.
With its red accents flanking the Thundercats rendition of the Proton logo, the front grille immediately draws your attention.
The headlamps, which reach from edge to edge and sit above an angular front bumper, are integrated into this fascia.
The X50 has minimal overhangs on the sides, which keep it looking tight and wrapped around a generous package.
Even though blacking out the B pillar and window frame surrounds and the C pillar gives the impression of a better ratio, the window to body ratio favors the latter.
The X50’s greater ride height is emphasized by black cladding along the side sills and wheel arches, but it can also get away with not being relatively as high riding to get the SUV look.
The top-of-the-line 1.5 TGDI Flagship model is only available with a blacked-out roof and side mirrors, as is the fashion these days.

When it comes to purchasing a Proton X50, only the Flagship model comes with the 1.5 TGDI engine.
It’s a three-cylinder petrol engine with turbocharging and direct injection that only sends power to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Nevertheless, from as low as 1,500 rpm, it produces a potent 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque, making it faster than many other cars on the market and easily outrunning its competitors.
That isn’t to say that the other engine option, comparable in design save for the direct injection system, isn’t worth considering.
However, this engine produces less power and torque, with 150 PS and 226 Nm, respectively, for reasons too technical to explain here.
As the flagship model, the other variations are front-wheel drive and use the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
If you’re considering a Proton X50 for its safety features, the 1.5TGDI Flagship is the one to go for.
That’s not to suggest the remainder of the vehicles aren’t equipped with the necessary passive safety features, such as Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control.
However, only the 1.5T Standard has four airbags, whereas the other models have six. The 1.5TGDI Flagship’s asking price is justified by the overwhelming amount of active safety capabilities it includes.
Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System, and Intelligent High Beam Control are all available to ensure safe travel.
Even if we go all the way up to the top of the luxury car market, no other manufacturer currently offers a more comprehensive safety package than this.
The X50 could be ready for low-level autonomous driving by the time a facelift arrives, based on its sensor package and computational power alone.
The Proton X50 is reported to have a fuel consumption of 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers or 15.6 kilometers per liter; this is, of course, for the flagship variant, thanks in part to the direct injection system.
The other engine version performs slightly worse, but you must be realistic about your expectations for tiny turbocharged engines.
They will consume more fuel than naturally aspirated engines if you push them hard enough.
The X50 features a full LED headlamp, 18-inch alloy wheel, welcome light, quad exhaust pipe, dual-tone interior, LCD meter combination, panoramic sunroof, and a floating floor console.
Suppose there are any features we haven’t mentioned, like the keyless entry & start system or the Proton X50’s remote start functionality, which can be challenging to work out at first but becomes helpful on a hot day out.
You’ll also receive six-way power-adjustable driver seats and a 360 camera system instead of the basic reverse camera arrangement if you choose the 1.5T Premium or 1.5TGDI Flagship.
