Sally is a unique animated character for Porsche 911.

Porsche 911 Sally Special – Overview

Although Disney and Pixar’s Cars premiered in theaters in the summer of 2006, the movie’s production began in 2002, when production designer Bob Pauley initially drew the character of Sally Carrera.

Sally is an anthropomorphic Porsche 911, Carrera, as implied by her last name.

Expressly, a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera, also referred to by enthusiasts as a 911 from the 996 generation.

Here are the major highlights:

  • The rear-engine sports automobile from the German manufacturer, the 911 Sally Special, is a one-of-a-kind creation from Disney and Pixar.
  • It has a seven-speed manual transmission based on the 911 Carrera GTS with 473 horsepower.
  • The Sally Special takes many inspirations from Sally Carrera of the Cars fame while lacking eyes and a mouth.

Even though the movie Cars is just 16 years old, Sally is celebrating 20 years since she left the animated Zuffenhausen plant.

The Cars team collaborated with Porsche to produce a unique 2022 Porsche 911 that carries the mark Sally Special in honor of her emerald anniversary.

Based on the 473-hp Carrera GTS trim, the Sally Special gives the current 992-series 911 characteristics of the Radiator Springs lawyer.

As a result, Porsche also used several 996-generation Sally Special design cues.

This contains replicas of Sally’s silver five-spoke wheels, staggered rear badging, and silver headlamp surrounds (and 911s of her era).

Unfortunately, Porsche and Pixar chose not to replace the Sally Special’s windscreen or front grille with large eyes and a mouth.

Moreover, they didn’t even engage Bonnie Hunt to provide the in-dash navigation system’s voice direction.

The Sally Special’s Sally Blue Metallic shade, a distinctive tint that requires manual application, is undoubtedly its most prominent feature.

In addition, the engine lid, front and rear fascias, and other car elements Porsche keeps in black on the standard Carrera GTS are also covered in Sally Blue Metallic.

Raising the Sally Special’s rear spoiler shows a decal matching Sally’s pinstripes, which she acquired while she was a Los Angeles lawyer living life to the fullest.

Sally deserves praise for accomplishing so much in the four years between her final assembly and the Cars movie’s theatrical release.

The Sally Special’s interior is decorated with various customized details, much like its exterior.

The trim elements in the cabin are Sally Blue Metallic, which goes well with the Chalk leather seats that have stitching in Speed Blue and Chalk, as well as the Pepita inserts that have a black, Chalk, and Speed Blue color scheme.

Other interior features of the Porsche 911 Sally Special are dotted with Speed Blue and Chalk, with the latter appearing on the center marker of the site steering wheel and the shift pattern display of the gear knob for the seven-speed manual transmission.

Other distinctive features include a printing indicating the car’s uniqueness on the dashboard above the glovebox, backlit Sally Special doorsill guards, and a unique “Kachow Mode” that takes the place of the standard Sport Response button on the drive mode switch situated on the steering wheel.

The Porsche 911 Sally Special is still available, unlike most limited-edition Porsche models, which frequently sell out before they are announced.

This is since Porsche and Pixar will auction off the vehicle at a future RM Sotheby’s event in Monterey, California.

The sale, which takes place on August 20, will raise money for two charities: USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, which works to aid the numerous refugees compelled to flee Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression, and Girls Inc., a nonprofit that works with girls between the ages of five and 18 and provides them with the tools and support needed to navigate life’s challenges successfully.

Girls Inc. receives the highest rating of four stars from nonprofit rating agency Charity Navigator. Meanwhile, the USA for UNHCR only receives two stars.
