For the Tokyo Auto Salon, Lexus LX600 with Off-Road Modifications has been revealed.

The working prototype, dubbed the Lexus LX 600 Off-road JAOS version, offers numerous off-road-ready features and extras to boost the luxury SUV’s rough capabilities.
Here are the significant highlights of Lexus & Jaos LX 600:
- In partnership with aftermarket parts supplier JAOS, Lexus has unveiled a modified LX600 for the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2022.
- The exhibition car now has front and rear skid plates, more aggressive wheel arches, 20-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires.
- The modified LX is based on the Offroad variant, which has locking front, center, and rear differentials and is exclusively available in Japan.
Since 1985, the Japan Off-road Service (JAOS) has developed parts and accessories for SUVs and 4WD vehicles.
The Toyota Land Cruiser LX 600, on the other hand, is a more luxurious variant of the Toyota Land Cruiser.
Even if the latter isn’t coming to the U.S., the LX 600 is. Therefore it won’t be long before Lexus dealers start selling authentic JAOS accessories.
The list of features begins with a new set of forged 20-inch titanium-gold Enkei wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires.
In addition, the Off-road model has locking differentials in the front, center, and rear for enhanced off-road agility.
Infusion-molded carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) fenders and front and rear skid protection are also included on the Lexus LX 600 Off-road.
In addition, the rally-inspired mud flaps on all four corners, a nod to legendary off-roaders of the past, are hard to miss. Door handle protectors and a tail-cutter round out the external changes.
However, the interior hasn’t been touched. If that’s the case, the cabin of this car features three rows of leather-wrapped seats, similar to the Premium, Luxury, and F Sport grades of the LX 600 that will be sold in the United States.
Under the hood, nothing has changed. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that powers the idea still produces 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet torque.
It is mated with a ten-speed A.T., a limited-slip differential as standard equipment, and comes as standard with four-wheel drive.
Meanwhile, in Japan, the production LX 600 includes an off-road model with three locking differentials for improved off-road capability.
While the changes seen on the Tokyo Auto Salon demonstration vehicles are unlikely to be offered by the factory, they show how owners of the new LX600 luxury Land Cruiser might increase their vehicle’s capacity to tackle muddy terrain.
We think the concept uses the same high-mounted double-wishbone front and four-link rear axle-type suspension with adaptive variable dampers as the production LX 600 because Lexus and JAOS didn’t disclose any suspension changes.
