The Sequoia SUV offers four-wheel drive as an option on most models, but the TRD Pro model has it as a standard feature. The vehicle can also run on rear-wheel drive. The TRD Pro model has various off-road features, such as a front skid plate, improved Fox dampers, forged 18-inch wheels, 33-inch tires, and a locking rear differential.

During a test drive, the Sequoia Capstone model with four-wheel drive reached 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and completed a quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds at 94 mph. Although slightly slower than the Ford Expedition Timberline, it was faster than the last GMC Yukon Denali model that was tested.
