At first appearance, the new Honda Amaze might easily be mistaken for the pre-facelift model. The overall look is the same, but the variances are in the details.

The heavy chrome band on the grille, for example, is still present. Lower down, however, the mesh has given place to slimmer slats.

While the headlights remain the same, top-spec VX models now, include LED projector units with LED Daytime Running Lamps.

New chrome bezels for the fog lamp housings have also been added to the front bumper.

The Amaze’s new diamond-cut alloy wheels do the most to boost the design, with chrome door handles on the sides adding some flare.

Still, wider tyres would have been beneficial. There are also changes at the back with new C-shaped LED elements in the taillights and a re-designed back bumper with a chrome accent at the bottom.

What’s Inside The New Honda Amaze?

The interior of 2021 Amaze is unchanged except for silver accents on the dashboard, door cards, and steering wheel. In a nutshell, this is a functional and well-designed interior that provides:

  • A comfortable driving posture.
  • Good sight.
  • Quick access to controls.
  • Plenty of storage space for miniature goods.

Even if the plastics aren’t quite up to level with the best in the market, the dual-tone black and beige inside colour scheme is carried over from before and helps to make this feel like a rather expensive environment.

The front seats provide adequate cushioning and support and are spacious enough to accommodate even larger drivers. Thanks to the height-adjustable driver’s seat, the seating position is quite comfortable.

For the most part, ergonomics are good because all essential controls are easily accessible. However, a front centre armrest, available as extra equipment, is a good choice.

There are also several convenient storage areas upfront, albeit the phone slot isn’t big enough to fit even the larger mobile phones.

The rear seats are similarly adequately cushioned, with plenty of knee room and under-thigh support for rear passengers. For taller passengers, however, headroom may be limited.

Furthermore, while the back seats may accommodate three passengers, they are best suited for two because they are not overly broad.

Another oddity in the back is the position of the centre armrest, which is a little too low for most people’s comfort. Honda also failed to include a rear air-conditioning vent and, perhaps more importantly, adjustable rear headrests in the Amaze.

Other than that, the Amaze’s feature list is standard fare for compact sedans, albeit similarly priced compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite provide a few extra luxuries.

The Amaze includes automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, and a digital MID, as previously, in fully-loaded VX specifications.

The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, has been retained. While the screen is responsive to touch and very simple to operate, the user interface appears antiquated and aftermarket.

All Amaze models standard on all Amaze models are dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors.

The top-spec model’s rearview camera, on the other hand, now boasts three views: regular, wide-angle, and top-down. The kit also includes automatic headlights.

One of the keys that draw on the Amaze, like before, is its boot. The boot, which measures 420 litres, can easily hold considerable baggage, making this Honda one of the most practical sub-4m cars available.

Engine Specifications

Nepali customers can purchase both diesel and petrol engines as an option. Honda Amaze comes with a 1.2-litre I-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre I-DTEC diesel engine.

The petrol engine provides a maximum of 90 PS of power, and the diesel engine offers 100 PS of power.

Both engines are still available with a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission.

The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine is quiet and smooth at idling, with noise and vibrations kept to a minimum.

The Amaze petrol accelerates quickly and easily keeps up with traffic flow. On the other hand, the mid-range is flat, necessitating a downshift if you want to attempt a swift overtaking.

At highway speeds, the tall fourth gear exacerbates the problem. The Amaze also handles admirably, turning in well and remaining stable through the corners.

Although convenient and great for maneuvering about town, the mild steering will not excite seasoned drivers. However, even at triple-digit highway speeds, the Amaze feels very stable.

The company has offered Honda Amaze in two variants manual and two variants CVT gearbox.
