2023 Ford Fusion Active – Overview
Ford’s long-rumoured Subaru Outback rival could be closer to becoming a reality.
The Fusion moniker will be revived for this new model, formerly used for Ford’s now-defunct mid-size sedan.
Here are the major highlights:
- The following Ford Fusion Active raised wagon appears in these spy pictures.
- It will be Ford’s mid-size SUV and compete with the Subaru Outback.
- The Fusion Active is expected to appear late this year or early in 2023.

However, instead of a sedan, the Fusion Active appears to be a raised station wagon that might replace the Edge as Ford’s mid-size crossover offering.
While previous spy photographs of the Fusion Active showed a test mule with body pieces from several models, these latest photos reveal the Fusion Active’s proper form.
It’s tall and toes the line between raised wagon and crossover, much like the current Outback, a mid-size SUV in dimensions.

However, if only slightly, the Fusion Active’s dimensions remind us of a wagon.
The Fusion Active is expected to come standard with all-wheel drive and black plastic body wrapping, similar to the Outback.

We believe a hybrid powertrain will be standard, as it is in the small Maverick pickup, and a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four or one of Ford’s several EcoBoost V-6 engines will be available as options.
