Taycan’s charging technology has been re-calibrated to extend the battery’s life and reduce overall power loss during fast charging. 

A head-up display, SiriusXM satellite radio, more interior and exterior color options, and over-the-air software upgrades allow owners to purchase or subscribe to extra services without visiting a dealership, among the other notable changes.

While the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S deliver supercar-level performance, we prefer the Taycan 4S, which is more economical.

The 4S features a 522-hp engine, 19-inch wheels, adjustable air suspension, partial leather upholstery, and keyless entry.

The Performance package is also recommended since it makes driving the Taycan more enjoyable: rear-axle steering and torque vectoring improve agility, Sport Plus drive mode boosts performance, and active anti-roll bars help with stability.

The majority of Taycan models have two electric motors, one for the front wheels and the other for the back wheels. They generate different outputs that differ depending on the trim level.

With the base 79.2-kWh battery, the 4S can produce up to 522 horsepower, while the optional 83.7-kWh battery can provide up to 562 horses.

The top variants, the 670-hp Turbo and the 750-hp Turbo S come with the latter as standard. Even though the base model is only available in rear-wheel drive, it can be combined with either battery size.

The smaller battery creates up to 402 horsepower, while the larger battery generates up to 469 horsepower.

Its quick acceleration (from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds) and point-and-shoot handling; however, given Porsche’s decision to forego one-pedal driving, wish it had a more sensitive brake pedal.

The Turbo S’s rocket-ship takeoffs will astound those with a genuine thirst for speed.

At 130 mph, the version we tested touched 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and passed the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. Compared to the Tesla Model S, which can travel over 400 miles on a single charge, the Taycan’s range is average. 

According to EPA estimates, the 4S model has a range of 199 miles with the lesser battery and 227 miles with the larger battery.

The Turbo S had a range of 192 miles last year, and the Turbo had a range of 201 miles.

Every model has an 800-volt design that can handle up to 270 kilowatts of charging power. The 83.7-kWh battery can charge from 5% to 80% in around 23 minutes for models with this battery.

However, as we discovered in a comparison test, 800-volt DC fast chargers are rare, and peak charging speeds aren’t beneficial.

The more popular 400-volt DC fast chargers have a power output of 50 kilowatts, charging a battery from 5 to 80% in 93 minutes.

Choosing the available 150-kW onboard charger cuts that time in half.

According to Porsche, the typical 9.6-kW AC charger will take 10.5 hours to charge the Taycan’s most giant battery from fully charged to 100 percent at home.

The Taycan with a giant battery pack scores up to 68 MPGe combined, according to the EPA.

In its most efficient form, the Tesla Model S has a combined rating of 117 MPGe. When driven on the highway, both cars get somewhat better estimations.

The Porsche gets up to 71 MPGe, and the Tesla gets up to 112 MPGe. A tech-heavy environment may be found inside the sleek-looking Taycan.

The design appears to be straightforward and similar to that of previous Porsche models. As expected, the interior can be adorned with a wide range of rich materials and color schemes.

Among the many comforts available is four-zone climate control, massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated back seat.

The Taycan comes standard with two and two seating. However, a third seat in the back can be added if needed.

Inside the Taycan, there are plenty of screens, but there aren’t many physical buttons and knobs.

Two centrally situated touchscreens handle the infotainment system, in addition to a curved 16.8-inch display for the gauges.

The top one is 10.9 inches long and is built into the dash. It gives you access to crucial features.

Users may modify climate settings, check battery status, input navigation info, engage with Apple CarPlay capabilities, and open and close trunks and charge ports using the 8.4-inch touchscreen below.

A 10.9-inch touchscreen is offered for the front-seat passenger, and a 5.9-inch touchscreen controls the rear HVAC and seat heating in the back seat (when equipped).

Every Taycan comes standard with forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, as well as lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist.

Porsche provides more advanced technology for a higher price.
