2023 VW Amarok with the V6 badge is revealed.

2023 VW Amarok – Overview

With the introduction of the Amarok pickup, Volkswagen is playing a long game.

A sketch of the midsize truck was released as early as March 2020.

The German automaker has been teasing details one by one, and the latest is a short video showcasing the rear end.

The teaser video is embedded in the social media post below, but VW has officially confirmed that a V6 TDI engine will power the Amarok.

That comes as no surprise, though it’s unclear whether this six-cylinder will be an actual VW TDI or a carryover from the 2023 Ford Ranger.

Speaking of the Ford Ranger, the stamped wordmark on the tailgate is another element of the latest teaser that resembles the new Ranger.

The video also shows the LED taillamp graphics.

Meanwhile, a previous Amarok teaser reveals the availability of optional matrix LED headlights (dubbed IQ Lights).

These lights produce around 900 lumens in the facelifted VW Polo, nearly double the standard headlights. As we discovered during a first drive with the Blue Oval truck, these matrix LED headlights are also available on the 2023 Ford Ranger.

The new Amarok, built on Ford’s T6 platform, will be 100 millimeters (3.93 inches) longer and more than 40 millimeters (1.57 inches) wider than the current model.

The payload capacity has been increased to 2,645 pounds (1,200 kilograms), while the towing capacity has been increased to 7,716 pounds (3,500 kg).

The five trim levels are Base, Life, Style, Panamericana, and Aventura. Depending on the variant, wheel sizes range from 17 to 21 inches.
