2023 Toyota Highlander Price – Overview

The Highlander has a lot to offer, but it only ranks in the middle of the pack in the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV sector, which includes more than twenty vehicles.

There are eleven different trims available.

There are both hybrid and nonhybrid powertrain options, with front-wheel drive as the default and all-wheel drive as an option.

All edges offer smooth riding and capable handling, although the Highlander’s attitude behind the wheel could need a shot of coffee.

Even on-base L, the cabin is well furnished with contemporary conveniences, user-friendly infotainment, and a variety of driver-assistance technologies as standard.

The Limited and Platinum variants, which come with attractive leather interior, a high-end JBL music system, and additional tech features, perform a good imitation of a Lexus.

The Mazda CX-9 has a prettier cabin and better driving characteristics; the Jeep Grand Cherokee L brings that brand’s off-road prowess, while competitors like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade deliver more extraordinary luxury and third-row space.

Despite being quite proficient, The Highlander is a less appealing alternative.

The latest update for 2023 Toyota Highlander

In place of the Highlander’s regular V-6 for 2023 is a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Toyota claims that the combined fuel economy rating of 24 mpg for the new engine is equal to that of the old V-6, which begs why fewer cylinders were chosen.

The new engine produces 265 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque. Limited and Platinum grades include digital gauge clusters and a new 12.3-inch infotainment display.

The XLE and XSE levels include a hands-free power-operated rear liftgate, and those premium models also have power-folding external mirrors.

The intermediate XLE is the one to buy, in our opinion.

It boasts a motorized sunroof, wireless smartphone charging pad, and heated front seats, among other conveniences.

Base seats in the 2nd & 3rd rows accommodate eight people in base L and intermediate L.E. models.

Still, higher trims offer a seven-seat configuration with second-row captain’s chairs.

Although there is more room than in the CX-9, especially in the third row, which is a little cramped for adults, there is less room than in the Chevrolet Traverse.

The cabin’s materials have been improved from the Highlander of the previous generation.

The most luxuries are supplied by the upscale Limited and Platinum models, although they fall short when compared to the features offered by the Palisade or Telluride.

For example, only four carry-on luggage could fit in the cargo area behind the third row, compared to six in the Traverse.

Most models come with an 8.0-inch infotainment system as standard, but the Highlander Limited and Platinum include a 12.3-inch screen that doubles as the gauge cluster.

The 12.3-inch infotainment display is an option for the mid-range XLE and XSE, but the analog instruments from lower-end models are still used.

In addition, there is a JBL 11-speaker audio system available.

For all models, Toyota offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity in addition to SiriusXM satellite radio and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

The infotainment display is built into the dashboard below a wireless smartphone charging station, which is an option.

A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 265 horsepower is standard on the Highlander, and it comes with an8-speed A.T. and either front- or all-wheel drive.

Although we haven’t driven this particular version yet, we can remark on its performance.

The Highlander Hybrid has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors working together to provide 243 horsepower.

Again, this variant offers both front- and all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Utilizing Toyota’s hybrid expertise, this engine gives customers a far more fuel-efficient vehicle than the standard model without significantly reducing performance.

The most recent hybrid model we examined could reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.

The ride is excellent for serving as the family chauffeur because of its boring but stable handling.

Potential customers in this market may know that the Ford Explorer is also available in a hybrid version.

But if you compare the fuel efficiency of different utes, the Toyota comes out on top.

We don’t yet know the city and highway ratings of Toyota’s new turbocharged engine; the company has stated that it achieves 24 mpg combined.

The fuel economy of hybrid versions will be better than that of the gasoline-only model; front-wheel-drive models achieve 36 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the interstate.

Safety Features

The Highlander provides a basic set of driver-assistance systems, as is customary for Toyota vehicles.

The kit features automatic high beam headlights, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control.

  • Pedestrian identification in automatic emergency braking standards
  • Standard rear-cross-traffic warning and blind-spot monitoring
  • Lane-keeping assistance and the standard lane-departure warning

What is the price of the 2023 Toyota Highlander?

The L with front-wheel drive is anticipated to have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of roughly $35,500, plus a destination fee, for the first 2023 Highlander SUV trims. After that, the Platinum should be near $48K at the other end of the price range.

Is Toyota Highlander worth buying?

The Highlander is an excellent SUV, yes. It has plenty of basic safety technology, comfortable seats for adults in the first two rows, and decent cabin materials. In addition, the Highlander’s powerful, fuel-efficient V6 engine, balanced handling, and comfortable ride make for a great driving experience.
