2023 Mazda CX 50 Unveils-But Is It As Luxury as Upcoming Toyota RAV4 & Honda CR-V?

2023 Mazda CX 50 Overview

The 2023 Mazda CX 50 is an attempt to enhance and expand the automaker’s SUV offering. The U.S.A is an essential market for the brand, accounting for over 70% of global sales. As a result, Mazda hopes to strengthen its position in the SUV-hungry market with the CX-50.

This year 2021, Mazda CX-5 has sold over 130,000 units, making it the automaker’s best-selling model. So in a sense, it’s a powerful contender, and Mazda is ready to bolster the model with a new crossover with a similar terminology but a slight difference.

Here are the three major highlights of the New Mazda CX-50

  • 2023 Mazda CX 50 is the latest crossover model from Mazda company, which will be the same size as CX 5.
  • 2023 Mazda CX 50 gets the same 2.5-liter and turbo 2.5-liter inline-four engines as the rest of the Mazda lineup, with a hybrid model to follow later.
  • The 2023 Mazda CX 50 will be produced in the United States and available for purchase in the spring of 2022.

Design & Aesthetic

The 2023 Mazda CX 50 is expected to follow in the footsteps of its existing SUVs, with beautiful styling, a sumptuous interior, and, hopefully, an entertaining driving experience.

While Mazda hasn’t released specific specs, it appears to be close in size to the CX-5, giving Mazda yet another entry into the popular compact crossover sector.

Although the two models will be marketed alongside one other for the time being, we expect the CX-50 to eventually replace the CX-5, similar to how the smaller CX-30 and CX-3 did.

2023 Mazda CX 50 is made as an off-roading SUV than the CX-5, with higher ground clearance and available rugged-style accessories.

However, it is still a unibody crossover built on the same transverse architecture as the Mazda 3 and CX-30. Mazda claims that it is somewhat longer than the CX-5 and offers more significant space in the back seat.

The CX-70 and CX-90 crossovers will be the first to feature Mazda’s new longitudinal architecture and inline-six engine. It also comes in a stylish tan exterior color dubbed Zircon Sand, and the vehicles shown above come with extras like a roof rack, hood graphics, and all-terrain tires.

With loads of black plastic cladding around the wheel wells, front and rear bumper trim that looks like skid plates, and black and silver alloys, the CX-50’s design plays up this rough angle.

Engine Specifications

2023 Mazda CX 50 gets a 2.5-liter inline-four, which will be available in naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions and will likely produce roughly the same 187 hp and 250 hp as the CX-5.

All-wheel drive will be standard, and both engines will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid vehicle will be added later, but Mazda hasn’t revealed any details about it other than using a Toyota hybrid system.

Otherwise, Company argues that the 2023 Mazda CX 50 and the smaller Toyota Corolla Cross, made at the same plant, share no parts.

Interiors

A knob on the center console controls a touchscreen positioned on the upper half of the dash. Plush materials, such as leather upholstery in a lovely shade of brown, will be available on higher specification levels, and a panoramic sunroof will be an option.

CX-50 is a five-seater with a dashboard that appears to be comparable to that of other Mazda models. We expect the CX-50’s cabin to be more luxurious than many of its mainstream competitors, such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

Features

Mazda CX-50 will feature a new drive-mode option that incorporates off-road and towing settings. These parameters affect the throttle response, steering feel, and the tuning of Mazda’s G-vectoring control system.

Price

The CX-50’s price hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect it to be higher than the CX-5, which starts at $27,945 with all-wheel drive.

It will be produced at Mazda’s new facility in Alabama. According to the latest teaser released this week, the Mazda CX-50 will make its global debut on November 15.

It’s expected to go into production in January 2022, alongside the Corolla Cross.
