Honda has officially unveiled the 2023 Honda Civic Type R after numerous teases.
Well, it was primarily exposed. Other than the fact that some parts have been “improved,” we still don’t know how much horsepower it has or what was done to its chassis.
We do know that the most recent model of Honda‘s sexiest hatchback is rumoured to be more potent than before.
Given that its predecessor resembled a scene from the Japanese anime series Gundam Wing, meeting this requirement was simple.
Design & Outlooks
It’s no secret that the styling of the previous Civic Type R was either loved or despised.
For better or worse, there aren’t as many strong reactions to the new CTR.
Although only a few risqué additions don’t disrupt the overall understated style, we believe it looks fantastic.
Vanity-driven artificial vents do still exist, but the ones behind the front wheels are now actual.
Although the rear spoiler is still a distinguishing feature, boy-racer stereotypes no longer apply to it.
Similar to the previous model, the Honda Civic Type R sports some distinctive bodywork.
Tradition dictates that it is still only available as a hatchback, and its flared fenders set it apart from lesser Civics.
Also, Honda provides more enormous rear doors, which are not present on the standard hatch.
Another distinctive feature is the side sills, and the rear has a black diffuser with the triple-tip, centre-exit exhaust that is exclusive to the Type R.
Brakes & Tires
The R-rated Civic’s revised wheel and tire setup are simple to overlook but quite significant.
The last one had 245/30 Continental SportContact 6 summer tires on 20-inch wheels with wafer-thin sidewalls.
Thankfully, a smaller pair of 19-inch, lighter rollers with thicker sides has become the norm.
Honda reduces the diameter of the wheels, so don’t worry.
The CTR’s new 265/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires have significantly widened the contact patch.
Engine Specs & Performance
Usually, the performance figures for a brand-new Civic Type R would be the main story.
Unfortunately, things are being kept a secret until Honda makes them public closer to the introduction of the vehicle this fall.
Fortunately, we have some concrete information about what’s inside the car to tide us through.
Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharger produces an unspecified amount of power.
Once more, six-speed manual transmission with a rev-match technology works in tandem with the engine to improve lap times.
According to Honda, it will be the “most powerful Type R ever.”
Previously, the U.S. version had 306 horsepower, but those sold in Europe and Japan had 316.
Honda’s wording leads us to believe that might be the case, but business marketing is a fickle buddy, so we’ll have to wait and see.
The same is true of its steering and suspension.
They have changed in some way. But unfortunately, we currently only know this.
What HP capacity can a Type R handle?
Because the Type R is a vehicle for enthusiasts, several people have modified the engines to provide extra power. As a result, the engine will produce its maximum power and torque at around 380 wheel horsepower and around the same torque if you decide to keep your standard ECU and turbos.
