2023 Genesis G90 – Overview
In the United States, a variant of the company’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a 48-volt hybrid system will be available in the new Genesis G90 sedan in 2023.
Here are the major highlights:
- The new Genesis G90 will be available in 2023 with a 48-volt hybrid system for its V-6 engine.
- An electronic supercharger improves the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6’s output to 420 horsepower.
- Compared to the regular 375-hp V-6, the hybrid is expected to be more expensive.

A Genesis representative confirmed to C/D that this upgraded powerplant would feature an electric supercharger, and EPA documents suggest that it will produce 420 horsepower, up from 375 horsepower in standard form.
Surprisingly, the installation of this hybrid system reduces fuel economy; according to EPA ratings, the “MHEV” model gets 20 mpg combined, one mpg less than the conventional twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6.
This discrepancy could be explained by the extra mass associated with the hybrid system.

In addition, both engines are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Mercedes-Benz S500, which has a 429-hp inline-six and a 48-volt hybrid system, has an EPA combined rating of 24 miles per gallon.
Originally, Genesis stated that this hybrid system would only be employed in the G90’s stretched long-wheelbase version, which will not be available in the United States.

However, the manufacturer now claims that the more powerful engine will be available in the standard-wheelbase automobile marketed in the United States.
We don’t know how much the hybrid arrangement will cost, but we expect it to be a few thousand dollars more, given its greater power.

More information, including pricing, on the 2023 G90 will be released soon, as the premier sedan is set to arrive in the United States later this year.
