2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost-The Last Call!
2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost – Overview
Dodge is almost through revealing these special edition Challengers and Chargers called Last Call.
Here are the major highlights:
- The most recent “Last Call” special edition, built on the widebody Hellcat Redeye, is the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost.
- The Black Ghost is painted Pitch Black and has a gator-skin vinyl roof pattern, giving it an additional 10 horsepower for 807 hp.
- This appearance is reminiscent of the original Black Ghost, a Challenger R/T from 1970 that became legendary in the Detroit street racing scene. 300 2023 models will be produced in total.
Based on the widebody SRT Hellcat Redeye model, the Black Ghost increases the output of the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 by 10 horsepower, for 807 horsepower.
The 1970 Challenger R/T SE that prowled the streets of Detroit fifty years ago is where the name “Black Ghost” originates.
The black 1970 Challenger, which belonged to Godfrey Qualls, a motorcycle police officer in Detroit at the time, became infamous for showing up at stoplight drag races on Woodward Avenue and other nearby strips, winning them, and then dissipating into the night like a 426 Hemi-powered phantom.
After Qualls’s son, Gregory, assisted in getting the original Black Ghost back on the road before his father’s death in 2015, the vehicle was added to the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2020.
The Qualls family is still the owner of the car.
Body & Aesthetic
Dodge will paint 300 Challenger Hellcat Redeyes in Pitch Black for the 2023 homage, and the roofs will have black faux-gator-skin vinyl that resembles the original.
The Black Ghost model also has white stripes on the back and front fenders, a chrome script “Challenger” logo on the grille, and a chrome “Dodge” front badge.
Black six-piston Brembo brakes provide stopping power for the Black Ghost’s 20-inch Satin Carbon wheels.
2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost Interior Design
The interior is also all-black, with Alcantara and Laguna’s leather covering the seats and doors.
The Alcantara steering wheel is adorned with a red SRT insignia. In addition, a customized Black Ghost emblem with the recognizable Dodge Fratzog insignia, a gator-scale design, and carbon-fiber bezels are added to the instrument panel.
When orders begin this fall, you may anticipate that the Black Ghost will be much more expensive than the normal Challenger Hellcat Redeye, which costs $87,340.
