The Cadillac Lyriq boasts a 500-horsepower dual-motor AWD system.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV – Overview

So far, Cadillac has only revealed information about the base single-motor powertrain for the forthcoming 2023 Lyriq electric SUV.

According to an Instagram Q&A session, we now know that the all-wheel-drive version’s dual-motor will have an estimated 500 horsepower.

Here are the major highlights:

  • Cadillac says the Lyriq EV’s dual-motor AWD variant will deliver 500 horsepower.
  • With 340 horsepower, the rear-wheel-drive, single-motor variant is the first to hit the market.
  • The 2023 Lyriq has a starting price of $59,990 and will be available for order on May 19.

While the original 340-horsepower single-motor Lyriq RWD starts at $59,990, we expect the dual-motor variant will start at a higher price.

Its 500 horsepower, which comes from the front and rear electric motors, will put it up against other EV SUV competitors like the Audi e-tron S, which has 469 horsepower, and the BMW iX xDrive50, which has 516 horsepower.

According to the EPA, the Lyriq AWD is expected to employ the same battery pack as the RWD model, which has a 100.0-kWh usable capacity and a range of 312 miles; the more powerful dual-motor version will likely have a somewhat lower range estimate.

Still, the initial production run will only comprise the single-motor Lyriq Debut Edition, which is only available in silver or black and has limited options.
