New 2023 BMW Alpina XB7 Price | Specs | Review!
2023 BMW Alpina XB7 Review
The X7, BMW‘s most large SUV, had a mid-cycle update earlier this year that added more potent and effective engines and a redesigned front end with squintier headlamps sandwiching the massive front grille.
Here are the major highlights:
- The 2023 BMW Alpina XB7 receives the same front-end updates as less expensive X7s, and the twin-turbo 4.4-litre V-8’s output is increased to 630 horsepower.
- According to BMW, the XB7 has a top speed of 180 mph and a 3.9 second 0-60 mph time.
- The XB7 also features a plush interior, a blue and green stitched Alpina steering wheel, and an illuminated gear selector. The pricing range begins at $145,995.
To provide the 2023 Alpina XB7 with the same cosmetic enhancements and the most potent engine in the X7 family, BMW has now revealed the most expensive and high-performance version of the X7.
2023 BMW Alpina XB7 Engine Specifications/Powertrain
The twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V-8 found in the X7 M60i is still used in the XB7.
However, the facelifted model produces 630 horsepower instead of the previous model’s 612 horsepower.
590 pound-feet of torque is maintained, which is 37 pound-feet more than the M60i.
According to BMW, the torque peak occurs 200 rpm earlier at 1800 rpm and lasts until 5600 rpm.
Additionally, the 48-volt hybrid assistance in the newest X7’s V-8 increases engine responsiveness and efficiency, while the 4.4-litre engine from Alpina gets a new cooling system.
2023 BMW Alpina XB7 Specs & Design
A glass Alpina infotainment control dial, a blue-lit gear selector, illuminated door sills, and a distinctive steering wheel covered in Lavalina leather with blue and green stitching are all included within the XB7.
Three trim options are available: Myrtle Luxury wood, Piano lacquer, or Natural Walnut Anthracite.
The gauge clusters are highlighted with Alpina blue, which changes to Alpina green while in Sport or Sport+ modes.
Speed and Acceleration
The 48-volt starter-generator is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the XB7 has all-wheel drive with an electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
BMW claims the XB7 can run the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, unique times for a car with a curb weight of almost 6000 pounds.
The performance tire kit and 21-inch wheels are optional extras and are believed to increase the XB7’s top speed to 180 mph.
Brakes & Suspension
The XB7 has an air suspension and special Alpina dampers, and it can raise its ride height by 1.6 inches when travelling below 19 mph.
Sport mode or exceeding 100 mph lowers the XB7 by 0.8 inches, while Sport+ mode or exceeding 155 mph lowers it by 1.6 inches.
However, we’re not sure where American Alpina owners would travel at these speeds in their enormous SUV.
In addition, BMW claims that the Alpina now has more robust torsion struts for greater rigidity.
Meanwhile, stiffer rear axle bushings and the M60i’s electromechanical anti-roll bars are declared to reduce body roll.
The M60i also has rear-wheel steering, with a maximum range of 2.3 degrees in either direction for the rear wheels.
Four-piston fixed Brembo callipers clamping onto 15.5-inch discs up front and floating callipers with 15.7-inch discs at the back supply the braking force.
The word “Alpina” is painted in white on the blue callipers.
Wheels & Tyres
There are two different wheel options for the XB7.
All four sides of 21-inch Dynamic wheels can be fitted with 285-width summer or all-season tires.
Pirelli summer tires are mounted on the standard 20-spoke, 23-inch Classic wheels in a staggered layout with 285- and 325-width tires up front and rear.
The XB7 also features a new front bumper with sculpted air intakes and a body-coloured rear bumper.
2023 BMW Alpina XB7 Price & Availablity
Alpina XB7 deliveries are expected to commence in early 2023, with prices starting at $145,995.
Are Alpina engines hand built?
Thousands of ALPINA engines have been manually put together for years. Before assembly, all specialized parts—both made in-house and those obtained from suppliers—are painstakingly checked for fit and quality.
Is Alpina better than m?
Although the Alpina was designed elegantly, the engine was not compromised. The factory engines from the standard 3, 5, 6, and 7 series are modified by Alpina to provide greater power than the M type typically. As a result, extremely quick real luxury touring cars are produced.
