2023 Audi RS5’s New Competition Package!
2023 Audi RS5’s New Competition Package – Overview
It seeks to make the RS5 more aggressive, faster, and louder.
Here are the major highlights:
- A Competition Package is now available for the 2023 Audi RS5 coupe and Sportback.
- It has a more robust suspension, a louder exhaust, stickier tires, and a different transmission and rear differential tune.
- Starting in June, you’ll be able to order the Competition package for $16,100.
While the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 engine’s output remains identical at 444 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, the Competition variant features a more liberal governor that boosts top speed from 174 to 180 mph.
The “RS Sport Exhaust System Plus,” which is not available on the standard RS5, sends a louder message to the public.
Still, Audi also removed almost 18 pounds of sound insulation so that people within the car may appreciate the engine note more fully.
The automatic transmission with eight speeds shifts gears even faster.
Unfortunately, we wish Audi had adjusted the manual shifter gate’s direction as Porsche did a few years back.
There are also several intriguing chassis changes. For example, Audi claims it has retuned the fixed-ratio steering, which it calls Sport Direct Steering, and the rear differential, which has been tweaked to make the RS5 more tail-happy.
Compared to the standard RS5, an adjustable Coilover suspension lowers the car by 0.4 inches and can be manually modified to be another 0.4 inches lower, for 0.8 inches.
There are also firmer stabilizers and a greater spring rate.
When you’re racing that M4 or Lexus RC F, that’s excellent news.
On 20-inch wheels, Audi offers Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
Inside the RS5 Competition, there are plenty of glossy black parts, and the exterior is available in a matching hue called Sebring Black with a crystal effect.
In addition, matte carbon, which is only available on the Competition Package, is now available for external trim components.
The option costs $16,100 in addition to the RS5’s already high starting price of $76,995 for the coupe and $77,295 for the Sportback.
As a result, the RS5 Competition is priced slightly higher than the similar BMW M3 and M4 vehicles, which both start at just under $80,000 for the 503-hp Competition xDrive variants.
Nonetheless, the RS5 Competition models set out to demonstrate that Audi Sport, based in Neckarsulm, around 2 hours outside Ingolstadt, is on the move.
We’re excited to compare the Competition models to similar versions from BMW M, Mercedes-AMG, and other manufacturers.
