2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone Will Be the Flagship Pickup Truck.
2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone
Toyota’s new Tundra is the most comfortable and car-like truck it has ever produced. It has the best infotainment system the brand has ever installed and an excellent hybrid powertrain.
Unfortunately, if you wanted a luxurious version of Toyota’s latest technical dread, you had to choose between the 1794 or Platinum variants, which are both fine but not as luxurious as some of the options from US competitors.
Here are the major highlights of the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone:
- The Toyota Tundra pickup truck will be available in a fully loaded Capstone model in 2022.
- It’s equipped with air springs, a 14.0-inch touchscreen, and luxury trim details, and it’s propelled by a new 437-hp twin-turbo V-6 hybrid engine.
- Like the other iForce MAX hybrid Tundras, the Capstone will be available in the spring, with prices starting at slightly over $60,000.
Tundra Capstones are only available in crew cab with a 5.5-foot bed and come equipped with chrome 22-inch wheels.
In addition, the outside of the grille is color-matched with chrome inserts (shown is an example finished in Wind Chill Pearl), and the “Tundra” script on the tailgate is also adorned with chrome.
Optional automated running boards and a bedside step are also standard features.
The inside also has a black-and-white color scheme exclusive to Capstone, dark open-pore American walnut trim, and plenty of LED interior accent lighting.
The Capstone comes standard with the massive panoramic sunroof that we admired in earlier Tundra levels, and it’s also the only Tundra with acoustic glass on the front windows for a quieter ride.
The interior is also fully equipped with Tundra’s technological amenities.
A new 14.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3 digital gauge cluster, a 10.0-inch color head-up display, and a JBL sound system are all part of the package.
The top-of-the-line I-Force Max turbo-V6 hybrid powertrain comes standard on the 2022 Tundra Capstone and 22-inch chrome alloys (the most comprehensive wheels ever installed to a Tundra from the factory) and semi-aniline leather that should add to the luxury car vibe.
Power running boards, a 10-inch color head-up display, and Toyota’s trailer towing equipment are also standard.
Toyota hasn’t revealed the price of the Tundra Capstone, but it’s expected to be around $60,000, given that it has nearly all of the truck’s features.
With the rest of the iForce MAX hybrid trucks, this flagship model will hit dealerships in the spring.
