2022 Mercedes Benz EQS – Complete Review!

2022 Mercedes Benz EQS – Overview

The Mercedes Benz EQS sedan, due in 2022, is the brand’s electric future’s flagship and one of the most luxurious EVs ever.

It was even named on our Editors’ Choice list for 2022.

Its curvy body glides through the air with ease for maximum efficiency, and its opulent cabin features luxurious appointments and cutting-edge technology for that all-important wow factor.

The optional glass-covered Hyperscreen dashboard emphasizes this point.

A 329-horsepower rear-drive motor (EQS450+) or a 516-horsepower all-wheel-drive system is available for the big EV automobile (EQS580 4Matic).

Both vehicles have a massive 107.8-kWh battery range of up to 350 miles.

So while it’s a simple pun to name the 2022 EQS an electrified luxury automobile, it’s also totally correct.

Body & Aesthetic

The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS 2022 is the first vehicle constructed on a platform expressly designed for electric cars.

It’s also the company’s first electric vehicle to be sold under the EQ subbrand in the United States.

A flurry of new electrified variations is expected to follow the squat EQA and boxy EQB subcompact crossovers and the EQE entry-luxury sedan.

The 2022 EQS is offered in 3 different levels and 2 engine options, with the top Pinnacle trim in EQS450+ rear-wheel-drive being our favorite.

The premium model level includes heated and ventilated front and rear seats, front-seat passenger massage, four-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, etc.

While the entry-level powertrain only produces 329 horsepower, we believe most drivers won’t miss the performance of the all-wheel-drive EQS580 variant.

Interior Design

The EQS is lined with attractive, high-quality fabrics on the inside and comes with a plethora of luxurious conveniences.

Extensive ambient inside lighting, front and rear headrest cushions, and an Executive Rear Seat package are attractive amenities.

Adjustable back chairs with massaging capabilities, neck and shoulder heating, and a separate tablet to handle the MBUX infotainment system are all included in the latter.

The most notable option is Mercedes’ Hyperscreen: a massive wall-to-wall glass panel that spans the instrument panel and encompasses the infotainment system.

While its digital display appears to be cutting-edge, the EQS comes with a more traditional dashboard as standard.

The EQS boasts a roomy interior thanks to a flat floor and a long 126.4-inch wheelbase. Because of its big hatchback, the cargo room is likewise very generous.

Center Console

The EQS’ MBUX infotainment system, particularly the 56-inch-long Hyperscreen, is one of the car’s most noticeable interior features.

The standard setup is a tablet-like touchscreen that extends from the center console and hovers above the dashboard, but the optional Hyperscreen is a three-screen display that operates as a single large display.

The 12.3-inch gauge cluster, 17.7-inch central touchscreen, and 12.3-inch passenger-side touchscreen are among them.

The EQS includes a fingerprint scanner that activates individual driver profiles, the “Hey Mercedes” voice-command system, augmented-reality navigation in the head-up display, and the dazzling array of screens. In addition, there are six USB-C ports throughout the interior on every model and a Burmester audio system.

Battery Specifications, Power & Range

The EQS450+ is powered by a 329-horsepower, 406-pound-feet-of-torque rear-mounted electric motor.

All-wheel drive and a total system output of 516 horsepower and 611 pound-feet of torque are provided by the electric motors on each axle of the EQS580 4Matic.

According to Mercedes, the rear-drive option is expected to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.

The more powerful all-wheel-drive model reduces the time from zero to 60 mph to 4.1 seconds.

Every EQS is equipped with adaptable air suspension and rims ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

In addition, the back wheels can be up to 4.5 degrees with the standard rear-axle steering system and 10 degrees with an optional upgrade.

This technology makes the 205.4-inch sedan easier to drive in small spaces while also improving its stability at high speeds.
