KIA Niro Overview
Kia has produced these teaser photographs to anticipate the unveiling of another environmentally friendly model, the second-generation Niro crossover.
The redesigned Niro will be unveiled in its entirety at the Seoul Mobility Show on November 25, with a US debut expected later.
The current model of KIA Niro has been on the market since 2017. However, since then till now the company haven’t launched any new model of Niro.
Hence, the new Niro will be influenced by the HabaNiro concept, which debuted at the 2019 New York car show.
So, What’s New For The Second Generation KIA Niro?
The U-shaped LEDs and the narrow bar running the entire front end width look incredibly similar to the lighting features from the idea, even though most of the bodywork is concealed.
The concept’s vertical lighting and the thick, red-painted C-pillar are carried through to the production model. However, whether the C-pillar will always be red or if additional colors will be available for the two-tone design.
The interior images show a clean design with a large screen that spans the dashboard.
Now, What Powertrain Will The New KIA Niro Shall Offer?
The current Niro model is available in different powertrains. A regular hybrid with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, a plug-in hybrid with a larger battery pack capable of 26 miles of electric driving, and a fully electric variant.
The latter sports a single 201-hp electric motor and a 64.0-kWh battery that gives it a range of 239 miles. Kia hasn’t specified whether the new Niro would continue to offer a range of powertrain options or go all-electric.
The HabaNiro concept was a fully electric vehicle. Still, the Niro isn’t using the same “EVX” terminology as the rest of Kia’s electric lineup, such as the new EV6. Hence we expect, it will remain a hybrid. More details on the upcoming Niro will be released later this week.
