2022 Dodge Challenger Overview

The 2022 Dodge Challenger is a throwback because some of its versions are exciting.

The entry-level V-6 model, the only two-door muscle car with all-wheel drive, is the cheapest way to join the Challenger’s brotherhood of muscle cars.

Experience the sound and fury of a Hemi V-8, either a 375-hp 5.7-litre or a 485-hp 6.4-liter, when you get behind the wheel of any R/T model.

While the inside materials are unimpressive, and the manual transmission is unsatisfactory, the 2022 Challenger is still a cool coupe that regularly reminds its driver of a bygone age.

Dodge will not make any significant changes to the Challenger lineup in 2022, as it always does.

However, the R/T Scat Pack now includes a luxury security alarm, the only variation from last year’s models.

The Convenience Group bundle currently consists of this feature as well.

The standard 305-hp V-6 in the Challenger will not satisfy thrill-seekers. The little engine is paired only with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but it lacks the quickness and thrill of rivals in the hefty Challenger.

The Dodge Hemi V-8 engines, on the other hand, are a different story. The 375-hp 5.7-litre engine we tested had enough power to power slide on demand, and its fierce roar was satisfying.

The 6.4-litre V-8 engine, which produces 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, is recommended for those wishing to exploit the Challenger’s potential.

The Challenger snorts loudly and sways threateningly through corners like a mad bull sighting red.

The muscular Dodge is a muscle car that excels on the street and at the drag strip rather than on two lanes and road courses.

The Challenger is too soft in tight corners, and its steering is too numb compared to the Camaro and Mustang’s crisper and stickier handling.

Nevertheless, the helm’s modest reaction time is ideal for long journeys and easily managed power-induced tail slides.

Fuel Range, Mileage

The Challenger’s rear-drive, V-6-powered engine will get 19 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the interstate. However, when all-wheel drive is added to the equation, those figures drop by 1 and 3 mpg, respectively.
