2022 Cadillac XT6- SUV | COMPLETE REVIEW!
2022 Cadillac XT6 – Overview
Unless you have Escalade money, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 is your only option if a three-row SUV from GM’s premium brand is on your wish list (and space).
The XT6 has much in common with the GMC Acadia regarding underpinnings and mechanical components, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at it.
The Cadillac has a distinctive appearance and interior design that looks expensive.
It comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a normally aspirated V-6 engine, and a front- or all-wheel drive.
Latest Updates for 2022
Only minimal revisions are planned for Cadillac’s mid-size SUV in 2022.
Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers are now standard on the Sport variant, while cars with the Platinum package get a steering wheel covered in Modena leather rather than last year’s Turin leather.
Power-folding outside mirrors are now standard, and a new optional 21-inch wheel design is offered.
However, the Sport’s chassis modifications don’t significantly affect performance, so we’d opt for the Premium Luxury trim instead.
The Comfort and Air Quality package (heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and an air ionizer), the second-row captain’s chairs, in-dash navigation, and 14-speaker Bose premium stereo system would be added to that.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Interior Design
Inside, the Cadillac XT6 comes in seven and eight-seat configurations, with the second row offering either a pair of captain’s chairs or a three-seat bench.
The XT6 comes standard with a third row that seats three people.
Unfortunately, compared to the Audi Q7 or the BMW X5, the XT6’s interior trim fails to impress.
The Cargo area is very limited, with only three carry-on suitcases allowed.
However, lowering the back two rows creates adequate room for 31 bags.
The Q7 can fit four cases behind its third row, but only 25 with the seats folded down, so the XT6 is the better option if you frequently travel big and bulky stuff.
Touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity, onboard Wi-Fi, and wireless smartphone charging are standard on all Cadillac XT6 variants.
In addition, in its current edition, Cadillac’s CUE (Cadillac User Experience) software is presented crisply on an 8.0-inch screen and responds quickly to requests.
Optional features include navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system with a DVD player.
Buyers of the Cadillac XT6 in 2022 will have the option of a 237-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 310-hp V-6 engine.
Both have a nine-speed automatic transmission and are available with front- or all-wheel drive.
The XT6 comes in three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport, with the first two focusing on comfort and the Sport adding performance-enhancing features like a torque-vectoring rear differential and retuned steering.
In addition, a Platinum package is available, which includes all of the XT6’s features.
Regardless of trim, the XT6 is a lovely vehicle. Twenty-inch wheels are normal, but the Sport variant can be upgraded to 21-inches.
The handling is decent for a three-row crossover, but it won’t fool anyone into thinking it’s the elegant CT5-V sedan.
According to the EPA, the base turbo-four in the 2022 XT6 will get up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the interstate.
The V-6 engine is rated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the interstate.
The all-wheel-drive XT6 on the 75-mph fuel-economy route, part of the thorough testing program, fared less well, returning 22 miles per gallon.
The Cadillac XT6 comes standard with several driver-assistance systems (automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring), while more sophisticated functions (adaptive cruise control, night vision) are optional.
The following are important safety features of the Cadillac XT6;
- Pedestrian recognition and standard autonomous emergency braking
- Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist is formal.
- Adaptive cruise control and night vision are both available.
