1 Million Tesla Delivery Worldwide In 2021.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s automaker, delivered nearly 1 Million Tesla Delivery Worldwide In 2021.
In 2021, the company’s deliveries will increase by 87%, from 499,550 cars shown in 2020.
In the 4th quarter of 2021, the company produced over 305,000 vehicles and delivered over 308,600 vehicles.
Here are the three major highlights:
- Tesla claims to have delivered 936,172 vehicles worldwide in 2021. But, unfortunately, the company isn’t saying how many were in the United States or China, Europe, or elsewhere and doesn’t have a habit of ever saying.
- The sales figures were an 87 percent increase over Tesla’s 2020 sales, and the automaker has now had six consecutive quarters of record-high deliveries.
- The best estimate of how many EVs Tesla sold in the United States comes from a recent recall in which the company stated that it would repair all Model 3 sedans sold from 2017 to 2020: 356,309.
Tesla reported over the weekend that it would deliver 308,600 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Model S and Model X EVs accounted for 11,750 deliveries, with Model 3 and Model Y deliveries accounting for the majority (296,850). These figures brought Tesla’s full-year 2021 deliveries to 936,172 vehicles.
According to the automaker, Tesla’s 308,600 deliveries last quarter made it the best quarter ever, surpassing the previous record quarter’s 241,300 EV deliveries in the third quarter of 2021.
Tesla has set new record delivery numbers for six quarters, despite the auto industry’s well-known issues with various supply chains and a lack of semiconductor chips.
Tesla does not categorize its deliveries based on country, but the New York Times reports its sales are most robust in Europe and China.
In its most recent SEC filing, Tesla referred to those two regions as “important markets,” but the United States remains the region where Tesla makes the most money.
According to an SEC filing, Tesla produced more than $6 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2021, compared to $3.1 billion in China and $4.2 billion in “other” regions.
In terms of the actual number of Teslas sold in the United States, from 2017 to 2020, the company sold 356,309 Model 3s or an average of just under 90,000 per year.
But, of course, because Tesla’s sales are increasing, that’s not a dependable figure for a year. In any case, the confirmation came via recent recall documents regarding issues with the wiring harness of the EV’s backup camera.
So perhaps when the company’s following major recall occurs, we’ll learn more about how many of the nearly million EVs sold by the California automaker last year were sold in the United States.
The company has made the aim of increasing sales and deliveries by 50%.
Last year, Tesla delivered nearly 1 million units, weathering the global chip shortage while ramping up production in China.
“Excellent work by the Tesla team all over the world!” Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, responded to the company’s sales figures on Twitter.
